Still Fat in America: So What is Big Government REALLY Doing About It?


Americans may not be the fattest people in the world (don’t get too puffed up just yet–we’re still the third fattest nation) but according to a new study we are getting fatter than ever.  And this is despite government’s commitment to address and battle the obesity epidemic.  Shocked?

If you want to know just how bad it is here are a few numbers for you.

Check it out:

  • Of the 11 fattest states, 10 of them are Southern states. Mississippi tops the list with almost 34% of the state population classified as obese.
  • A whopping 108 million Americans are overweight. This includes those who meet the qualifications of obesity–a body mass index of 30 or higher.
  • Approximately 12,000,000 of these Americans are children and teenagers.
  • An estimated 41 million Americans have prediabetes.
  • And 60 million people a day eat at McDonald’s.

What are the reasons for these startling statistics?
