Are you paying too much for your medication?
A large medical group looked into the numbers associated with copays for medications at the pharmacy and cross checked them with cash prices.
What they found is that customers overpaid for their prescriptions 23% of the time! Average overpayments were found to be $7.69 on those transactions. That’s not chump change.
This information was gathered when a noted health economist heard that it’s sometimes cheaper to pay cash at the pharmacy counter than to pay a copay and go through your own insurance.
Often, patients aren’t told they could pay less without using insurance unless they ask, so make sure you do your due diligence and request multiple prices from your local pharmacy the next time you go get your meds!
