Consumer Reports reported that the US Navy was experiencing significant issues with submarine sailors battling mood disorders and sickness. Naval scientists confirmed that these mood and physical disorders were the result of living in confined spaces with a plethora of electronic equipment. There premise was the ionic air quality directly correlated with human health, their studies proved them accurate. Electronics notoriously emit high levels of positive ions, which deionize breathing air, leaving it absent of nourishing negative ions. The scientists requested the addition of negative ion generators aboard submarines. This addition quickly alleviated health issues and restored moral on board. The US Navy made it mandatory for these devices to be installed inside submarines.
This report was something that I knew about personally due to my father’s time in the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Threadfin and worked as a sonar man. This job kept him in very tight quarters around significant electronic devices. After research, I asked him about his time working in those quarters and he expressed how miserable it was. He would have to stare at a sonar screen for hours while feeling drained of energy and overly irritable. The worst part was his sleepless nights after his shift ended. He didn’t know then, but the deionized air was causing significant health consequences. Unfortunately, the negative ion generators did not get installed on his ship until after he retired from the US military.
Fast forward to the early eighties and this issue reared it’s ugly head again, hurting those that worked in front of computer monitors all day. Dr. Charles Wallace who worked for the State Department first identified the issue. As research was coming out he said “New side effects of working with computers have recently been discovered which tend to change a person’s blood chemistry”. He attributed this reaction to the positive ion problem, as computers emit high levels of positive ions. The effects include mood disorders, drowsiness and even high levels of birth defects in women. This issue was finally given a name by the Center for Disease Control, Video Operator’s Disease (VODS).
In the eighties it was rather rare to work with computers compared to our population today. Only certain professions required computer use, so VODS was not wide spread. Again, the only known solution from Dr. Wallace was the addition of negative ion generators to the workspace.
Why is this information relevant? It begs a simple question, why has this disease vanished? From my research, there is not any real explanation. In fact, many of the same symptoms reported in the sixties and eighties are present and more intense today. Daily energy and mood enhancements are a multi billion-dollar industry. Many people I speak with daily are searching for ways to feel better. In reality, we are all video operators as we utilize our small-screened phones, tablets and laptops on a daily basis, sometimes all day long. It is my hypothesis that VODS is alive and well and affecting nearly all of us on a daily basis. So, what do we do? Medical experts will tell you to take more walks outdoors to experience natural negative ion support. However, for many, this isn’t possible due to work and a daily packed schedule. The other solution is to buy a negative ion generator for your office, but this only protects one location and they are very expensive. Our mobile world has made our living rooms, coffee shops and even the car mobile offices. This is great for productivity but it is impossible to stay ionicly protected with stand-alone generators.
The best solution, wearable negative ion technology and negatively ionized electronics inserts. These affordable and portable solutions will allow you to protect yourself and neutralize the effects of your electronic devices 24/7. No matter how you use negative ions, it is the only proven way to beat a case of VODS, which we undoubtedly all have. Start feeling better today, your mood and energy levels will thank you!
