Most people know about the benefits of resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red grapes and red wine. In case you didn’t know, resveratrol has been shown to have many health benefits such as lowering blood sugar levels, protecting the heart and circulatory system, and reducing the chances of various cancers. This alone might make you consider eating more red grapes, but there’s more! As it turns out, grape seeds may be better for you than the grape itself. Grape seeds used to be considered waste and are often thrown out during the production of grape juice and wine. By throwing them out, it really is a waste of potent nutrients. Grape seeds have tons of healthy elements like lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, and something called polyphenols.
Polyphenols typically act as antioxidants, so they can prevent cellular damage from free-radicals that are caused by smoking, eating junk food, and pollution. They also fight against inflammation to reduce the chances of terminal diseases such as cancer. Grape seeds also contain nutrients which fight aging by increasing vitamin C in cells and hunting for toxins. Still not a fan of grapes? No worries! You can also take grape seed extract as a supplement. This is also a great way to control exactly what your dose is. Combine that with a resveratrol supplement, and you’ll likely see a drastic improvement in your health.
