Pregnancy and Exercise

If you think it’s not safe to exercise when you’re expecting, think again. In fact, it’s actually beneficial to your pregnancy to break a sweat – especially in the first trimester.

Researchers at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences found that moms-to-be who regularly performed moderately intense workouts in their first three months had a lower risk of pre-term birth. Apparently, this helps the body to replenish  more nutrients to their placentas post-exercise.

Keep in mind that if you didn’t exercise regularly before getting pregnant, or have certain risk factors, you’ll definitely want to check with your doc.
