Snoring can be very frustrating – not only for you but for your sleeping partner, as well! Snoring can literally wake you out of your sleep.  There are many reasons people snore, but trying to stop the snoring is not an easy task.

What exactly is snoring?

When your air passages are partially blocked, a noisy vibration occurs.  It can be caused by many reasons, such as alcohol, sleeping positions, obesity, sleeping pills and even bad eating habits.  The muscles in the neck relax.  When the muscles relax, the soft tissues make a vibrating noise.

There are remedies available that involve dental implants and medications, but these can cause side effects.  Most people want to avoid surgery or having to have the sleep tests done, so they are searching for some home remedies to try first.

Sleep better with these home remedies for snoring:

•    Eat 1 teaspoon of honey at night before you go to bed.

•    Sleep on your side.  When you sleep on your back, you are more likely to snore because you close or block your air passages. Your tongue moves backwards and strikes the uvula which causes you to snore.

•    Elevate your head.  A low position will block your airways.  Simply add an extra pillow to elevate and reposition your head.

•    Nasal drops can help you breath in more air and prevent your from snoring.

•    Breathing exercises helps the normal function of the passages associated with breathing.  This not only helps with snoring, but as been known to help reduce stress.

•    Inhale steam with essential oils to open up the blocked nostrils.
