L-Carnitine Supplements Improve Energy, Memory and Heart Health

Where is L-Carnitine found?
L-Carnitine is found in high levels in red meats and dairy products.  This nutrient is also found in nuts, seeds, beans, some fruit and vegetables, cereal, rice and wheat.  Vegetarians and people who are on a low carbohydrate diet have been found not to have enough L-Carnitine in their systems.  Additionally, people who consume a great deal of fast food may have low levels of L-Carnitine.

Health benefits of L-Carnitine
While L-Carnitine helps with energy, it also assists with health issues.  It has been found that taking this supplement after a heart attack a person may be less likely to suffer another heart attack, experience chest pain or have abnormal heart rhythms.  It could help prevent dying of heart disease by keeping your total cholesterol and triglyceride levels low, and an increase in good cholesterol levels. Importantly, the supplement can help to not develop congestive heart failure.

There has been a recent surge of excitement about PVD, peripheral vascular disease, on television.  If you have decreased blood flow to your legs then L-Carnitine could help you walk longer and farther.  Make sure you talk to your doctor or other healthcare provider about PVD if you think you have it or are at risk for developing the condition.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is an issue becoming more prominent in the health world.  L-Carnitine is being researched in helping CFS.  Researchers believe that people suffering from CFS may have a deficiency of this nutrient and by taking the supplement it may help boost energy levels.

In a Down’s syndrome study, taking L-Carnitine helped with significantly improving visual memory and attention.  Patients with Kidney Disease have shown to have L-Carnitine deficiencies, and may find relief by taking supplements.  Taking a L-Carnitine supplement when you have an overactive thyroid, called Hyperthyroidism, has shown to help with some of its effects, such as insomnia, nervousness, elevated heart rate and tremors.

By far the heart has the most use for L-Carnitine.  If your heart is not getting enough oxygen then the rest of your body will be fatigued.  A most interesting use of L- Carnitine with the heart is helping the heart muscle from drug toxicity.  Helping to prevent drug toxicity may help extend the survival rate of the heart patient.

Because L-Carnitine is a simple supplement that can help you with a variety of common health issues, it’s a good idea to make it a part of your daily dietary regimen.  If your energy levels are low try enhancing your diet by taking an L-Carnitine supplement.  This supplement might even help with your waistline by helping you to burn those extra calories.  Take L-Carnitine for the health of your body and the energy to keep you going all day long.
