ExerciseWait, don’t run away! Even though it might not seem like it, there are several ways you can get in 30 minutes of exercise every day while still performing your daily activities. For instance, when you get to work, park in the back of the parking lot and walk the distance instead of wasting 10 minutes trying to find a closer spot. This tactic serves double-duty because at the end of the day you will have to walk back to the spot, which means even more exercise. Or, instead of the elevator, take the stairs (OK, maybe not if you work on the 30th floor).
If you have kids at home take half an hour and get active with them. Chase them around, wrestle with them, play a little one-on-one . . . anything to get your heart rate up will work. Not only is this good for your health, it’s good for your kids’ health as well.
Step away from the sodaYou don’t have to go cold turkey on your soda habit, but try to give up a few glasses every day and replace them with water. Your body needs the water for so many different health reasons and as an added bonus, you will see extra pounds fade away.
Watch your food portionsThis tip will actually save you time! If you find yourself packing on a few pounds around the midsection, take a look at your portions and cut them down. By trimming the amount of food you eat, you will be able to see yourself become slimmer and trimmer as well.
Have fiber every dayChoose foods that contain fiber such as vegetables, fruits, whole-grain breads and oatmeal. Not only will they keep your digestive system on track, they will help boost your energy level and keep you running all day long.
Stop passing gasNo, not that kind of gas! I’m talking about the gas and toxins you are filling your lungs and the air around you with each and every time you light up a cigarette. Cigarettes cause several different health issues from cancer to breathing issues. By quitting smoking, not only will your lungs breathe a sigh of relief but so will those around you.
Drink in moderationIt is okay to have alcohol in moderation. But remember -- that does not mean having a six pack after work every day! Alcohol can affect several different body functions and organs that can ultimately lead to some serious health issues. It’s recommended that men have no more than two drinks per day.
Check in with your doctor regularlyEven if you think you are as healthy as a horse you should still see your doctor at least once a year for an annual checkup. These checkups can help you to find out if there are any serious issues you need to deal with and help control those things that might become an issue if you don’t fix them now.
These seven tips are so easy to do and can fit into your busy life without a problem. Why wouldn’t you want to invest in your health and your future a few minutes a day to make the years to come that much better?
