A trip to the ER is seldom a planned or welcomed event. It’s usually reserved for the most serious of “oopsies” and, thus, we often arrive there with little knowledge of what to expect and what treatment we will receive. This leaves us vulnerable to the medical and financial unknowns that span a wide spectrum between life-saving or entirely superfluous. My own medical mishap sets the context for these lessons.
“You need four hugs a day for survival, eight for daily maintenance, and twelve hugs a day for growth.” ~ Virginia Satir
Hugging is a form of physical communication that speaks volumes without ever exchanging a single word. It is a wonderful way to start your day and essential for physical and emotional wellness and happiness. Research has proven that hugs can help you be healthier, think and feel younger, instill tranquility, add years to your life, and even slow down aging!
“Bodhi” is the Sanskrit word for enlightenment, which translates to mean an “awakening.” An awakening to what? Many believe it is the awakening to life. And yet, the majority of people sleepwalk through their existence. The time has come to wake up! But . . . how?
Not long after the popular coffee chain, Starbucks, came under scrutiny for secretly upping their prices without a word to consumers, a much more disgusting problem has come to light. A problem that is sure to bug those living a vegan or kosher lifestyle alike. That’s right, the red dye found in some of their cakes, shakes, and other rosy items is made from crushed cochineal insect dye.
Whether it’s a personal journey towards spirituality, prevention or recovery from illness, or you simply want to “clean up” your way of living, many people are adopting a more holistic lifestyle. While the change to a more natural lifestyle may initially seem daunting, it is not impossible.
One of the most challenging aspects, certainly, is how to handle healthcare when the world of modern medicine no longer fits into your life’s purpose.
We’ve all heard the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” While it is easy to say, it is another thing to actually put into fruition. Or is it?
In terms of brain health, what exactly is “cortical folding” or “gyrification” and how does it increase your mental capacity? These questions may seem to address complex issues best left to neuroscience, except for one simple practice that directly relates to them: meditation.

In the words of Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.” He was right: the mind is a powerful tool.
My own two-year meditation sabbatical has been profound for me, and it is my deepest desire to share what I have learned during my upcoming meditation and healing retreat, this April 2012. This retreat will offer a rare, in-depth opportunity to learn and experience my techniques for deepening the mind-body connection and facilitating long-lasting regeneration and healing.

The fearless, aged queen of comedy has broken just about every barrier that’s been put in front of her. Now Joan Rivers, a living legend in my eyes, is doing stunts with medicinal marijuana on her wholly unwatchable reality show, Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best.
There is no greater gift you can give someone you love than the gift of health. So, in honor of showing someone how much you care this Valentine’s Day, considering skipping the chocolate (unless it’s a little bit of dark chocolate which is good for you) and try one of this ideas instead.
Oh come on . . . admit it. If it’s “hot” in Hollywood – that is, if all the celebs are doing it, it has to be good, right?
Well, not in every case. But in this situation – a resounding YES!
In the

If you had to guess, who would you say
smokes the most marijuana? I mean, in terms of volume and location around the world? If I had to guess, and based on where I live, I would have said Southern California. I mean, it seems to be everywhere! Sometimes I think I could get high just walking down the street!
Do you often feel grumpy or disgruntled? Would you rather scowl than smile? Do supermarket parking lots make you want to go postal?
