The Mystery Behind Activated Charcoal

Understanding How Activated Charcoal Helps Reduce Flatulence

When people think about activated charcoal, the vision that sometimes comes to mind is the charcoal briquette used in outdoor barbecues. Not true. Activated charcoal (or activated carbon) is charcoal that has been heated with steam to approximately 1000 degrees C to create a very porous surface - so porous that it has an 'internal surface'. In fact, a teaspoon of activated charcoal has the surface area of an entire football field.

These large surfaces adsorb not absorb. Adsorb means it attaches by chemical attraction and traps the chemicals, whereas absorb means penetration of a substance into another.

The use of activated charcoal dates back centuries ago as a natural internal detoxifier and was commonly used to help cleanse the body of unwanted material and assist with the healing process of the body. It is also widely used as an emergency antidote to treat certain kinds of poisoning (overdose) in humans by helping to prevent absorption of poison by the stomach and small intestines.

Activated charcoal, such as the kind found in CharcoCaps, is a safe and natural substance that is effective for cleansing the body of unwanted materials and reducing intestinal gas, and is ideal to take when eating high-gas producing foods such as cabbage or beans.

It adsorbs gases and toxins to the surface area of the charcoal molecules, which helps to relieve flatulence and gas pains. While sliding through the stomach and intestines, the activated charcoal does not get absorbed; instead it binds with toxins and other substances, which are then carried out of the body on the surface of the charcoal.

CharcoCaps is a natural internal detoxifier commonly used to help cleanse the body of unwanted material and naturally adsorbs the toxins in the intestinal tract, which will reduce gas and odor naturally. The activated charcoal also decreases the odor from gas.
