Natural Treatments for Fibromyalgia

The mystery behind the cause of fibromyalgia continues.  Unfortunately, so does the pain.  Fibromyalgia can be extremely painful and generally affects women, including young girls.  However, it can also affect men.  Medications can have horrible side effects.  Here are some natural treatments to help ease a little bit of that pain.

Fibromyalgia is a disease that affects muscle tissues and can cause extreme chronic pain or discomfort that is tolerable or both.  This muscle that is affected is highly sensitive and even a light touch can trigger the pain.  There are 13 trigger points that actually trigger pain to other parts of the body.

Fibromyalgia generally affects women, even young children.  It is not contagious, nor life-threatening, but can cause such severe pain that it can leave people feeling like there is no way out of that pain, causing depression.

The symptoms of fibromyalgia can reveal itself in the respiratory system, central nervous system, digestive system, gastrointestinal system, genitourinary system and muscular system.

While there is not a specific cause, stress and fatigue are common causes.  Fibromyalgia becomes worse when people are under stress.  Therefore, a healthy lifestyle is recommended, especially for people with fibromyalgia.

If you or someone you know suffers from fibromyalgia, consider these natural treatments before you venture into medications.  This is especially important if your child or teen has been diagnosed with this horrible disorder.

Some natural treatments include:

• De-stressing and relaxation – Make sure you get enough sleep.  People with this disorder should get at least eight hours of sleep.  Moderate exercise is recommended, but do not do any heavy exercises as this can stress the muscles.  Massage is an excellent way to ease the pain in the muscles.

• Healthy diet – You should keep a hypoallergenic diet.

• Take supplements with essential fatty acids and anti-inflammatory ingredients.  These supplements help to decrease pain and build muscular tissue infected by fibromyalgia.
