Hypertension – It is Possible to Lower your Blood Pressure Naturally

Believe it or not, there is a way to lower your blood pressure naturally.  Prescription drugs can be very dangerous. Try these natural remedies to lower your blood pressure.

Those of you who suffer from hypertension know that the high blood pressure medication used to treat hypertension have very dangerous side effects, can damage your internal organs and can be very costly.  Prescription medications are generally synthetic and many times do not treat the underlying cause of hypertension.

Hypertension can sneak up on you and you could have it for a long time and never know it.  Your blood level depends on the amount of blood that your heart can pump, and the level of resistance the heart pumps against that are present in the arteries.  Your blood pressure varies and can increase with activity or can decrease with rest. It also can vary with each heart beat.

It is very important to treat hypertension, because if left untreated, worse health issues could arise.  Most people that suffer from hypertension cannot point out a particular symptom, such as severe headaches, dizziness and nose bleeds.  Therefore, it is recommended that you see a doctor so that tests can be done.

You should have a test done at least once every two years to check your blood pressure.  This is if you have not had signs of high blood pressure.  If you do have high blood pressure or are showing signs, then you will need to have these tests done more frequently.

Hypertension is measured with a sphygmomanometer.  This is a device that is an inflatable arm cuff and a pressure-measuring device.  The blood reading consists of two numbers, which are called systolic (upper) and diastolic (lower) numbers.

The upper number measures the amount of pressure in the arteries between heartbeats and when the heart is resting.  A normal reading is said to be 120/80mmHg.  Recently, this number has been lowered to 115/80mHg as a normal reading.

When the blood pressure rises above this normal level, there is more of a risk of cardiovascular disease.

How can you tell if you have hypertension?  When the blood pressure readings are between 120-139 mmHg and the diastolic number is between 80–89mmHg, this is the pre-hypertension stage.  In stage 1, hypertension readings are between 140-159mmHg systolic and 90-99mmHg diastolic.  In stage 2 hypertension, the most severe form of hypertension, the systolic pressure is 160mmHg or above and a diastolic pressure is 100mmHg and above.

It is extremely important to find ways to lower your blood pressure.  Hypertension leads to some serious diseases if left untreated.  People are also changing the way they want to fight hypertension. Most of the time, doctors will prescribe medications; however, people are looking into more natural ways to drop their blood pressure levels.
