Help Your Baby’s Eczema with Home Remedies
Babies can be extremely sensitive to the store brand products. If your baby is suffering from eczema, these store brand products can be harsh on his/her skin. This is the last thing your baby needs if he/she is suffering from the uncomfortable itchy and dry skin of eczema.
The good news is you do not have to subject your baby to the harsh chemicals found in store brand products. There are many different home remedies you can try to relieve the symptoms of baby eczema.
Natural Baby Wash
Avoid all harsh baby cleansers by making your own baby wash. This recipe also helps with the itch caused from eczema. In a bowl, mix 1 tsp of comfrey root, 1 tsp of white oak bark, 1 tsp of slippery elm bark and two cups of water. Pour it into a pot and cook over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. Cool the mixture and strain out the solids. Use the remaining liquid as you would any wash.
Baby moisturizer
Keeping your baby moisturized is important when treating eczema. Natural Aloe Vera lotion applied several times a day will help keep your baby’s skin from drying out. Apply after bathing and be sure to avoid any harsh cleansers. Consider using the recipe above for cleansing.
Oatmeal bath for baby
An oatmeal bath helps soothe the baby’s itching and helps to heal. Put two cups of oats into a food processor or coffee grinder and grind them into powder. Add to warm bath and stir. Soak baby in oatmeal bath for 15 minutes up to twice a day. Rinse your baby well and dab dry.
Ingredients to look for in lotions for healing:
• Blueberry leaves
• Zinc
• Vitamin E
Your baby has to suffer enough from eczema. Help your baby get some relief by avoiding the harsh cleansers and trying the homemade recipes above.
