Eliminate Dandruff with These 5 Natural Remedies

If you suffer from dandruff, then you know the itchiness, embarrassment and inconvenience that go along with it. Perhaps you’ve tried different methods to try to eliminate your dandruff, such as medicated shampoos or other harsh treatments. But have they really worked? Maybe it’s time to try something different . . . Let’s take a look at a few home remedies you can use to get rid of your dandruff for good.

There is nothing more irritating than an itchy scalp and nothing more embarrassing than the white pieces of skin all over your hair (and clothes).  Dandruff is a problem that can be caused by many different factors, such as:
  • Dry skin (often gets worse during the winter months)
  • Irritated, oily skin (often the condition known as seborrheic dermatitis)
  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Not shampooing often enough
  • Sensitivity to certain hair-care products
  • A yeast-like fungal infection (known as malassezia)
  • Poor nutrition

When treating your dandruff, it’s best to stay clear of harsh chemical-based shampoos as they may cause even more irritation and eventual flaking. Instead, try home remedies which will help eliminate embarrassing dandruff scales.

Why use home remedies?
Home remedies are often more effective than traditional chemical treatments and may give you the best results.  They also help to protect the hair cuticles from damage. By keeping your hair clean and nourished you are already taking steps to avoid dandruff.  However, many times people just don’t get the nourishment needed.

Here are 5 home remedies for you to try:
  1. Warm oil head massage: The optimized oil levels of this treatment will help keep your scalp nourished. It will also provide massage aids for better blood circulation, which will exfoliate the scalp of the dead skin build-up.
  2. Lemon juice and honey with yogurt: Mix these ingredients together and apply the mixture to your scalp.  Leave it on for at least 20 minutes and then scrub and wash your scalp with warm water.  You can also buy a bottle of pure lemon juice and massage your scalp with it.  Leave it on the hair and then wash well with warm water.  You should see results in as little as 2-3 treatments.
  3. Mix two tablespoons fresh apple juice with two tablespoons water and apply to hair. Leave in for 10-15 minutes, then rinse.
  4. Eggs: Beat two eggs with two tablespoons water. Apply to hair and scalp and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
  5. Mix equal parts of olive oil and almond oil, and massage hair and scalp. Leave in for five minutes after you feel a slight burning or tingling sensation. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Try one or more of these home remedies to get rid of your embarrassing dandruff and finally be flake-free!
