Dangerous Hidden Toxins Found In Baby Formulas

Nature has provided the most efficient, healthy, and loving way to feed babies.  The enormous health and emotional benefits of breastfeeding have been proven time and time again.  However, it remains a controversial subject with extremists on both sides raging war over the subject.

There are various reasons why some mothers choose to feed their baby formula.  Economic factors come into play if a mother must return to work.  Some babies are difficult to breastfeed, some mothers have a trying time with it, and with adopted babies the choice usually has to be infant formula.

However, not all infant and baby formulas are created equal.  Before you make the decision to feed your child artificial milk, it’s best to arm yourself with the facts.  You may be alarmed.

Toxins found in infant formula.

A recent government study found several well-known brands of powdered formula contained dangerous contaminates.  Though the CDC didn’t identify the brands, they’re found on practically every grocery shelf.  Among the toxins was percholate, a compound used to make rocket fuel.

Percholate contaminants are found in food and water.  Infants are at greater risk because not only is the toxin present in the formula, they get a double dose when the powdered formula is prepared with contaminated water.  The reason that percholate is causing such concern is because the chemical is known to have detrimental effects on the thyroid as well as hormone production.  Fetal development may be at risk.

Melamine is another toxin that has been contaminating infant formula in China for several years.  Now it is found in a U.S manufactured formula as well.  Linked to kidney failure and other serious conditions, the FDA was said that no amount of melamine was safe.  They’ve since revised their stance to state that concentrations less than 1,000 parts per billion are okay.   Interesting.

Equally alarming is the fact that high fructose corn syrup is found in many infant formulas.  This is unconscionable.  HFCS is known to cause a whole slew of health problems including metabolic disturbances, weight gain, high triglycerides, and liver and heart damage.  Not only that, it has a way of depleting essential minerals and vitamins right out of the body.  I can’t even imagine knowingly giving a developing infant this dangerous sugar.

Soy formula isn’t safe either.  As a matter of fact, Dr. Mercola states: “NEVER give your child soy formula. I guess the only exception would be if there was a catastrophe and that was the only food source that would keep your baby alive.”

That’s a pretty bold statement.  But when you consider that soy formula contains high amounts of manganese, which can lead to infantile brain damage, the tough stance is justified.  And while it’s true that breast milk contains manganese, soy formula has 200 times more.  Experts tell us this poses a huge threat to the metabolic systems of young babies.

Breast is best.

Breast fed infants have a lower risk of obesity, ear infections, respiratory tract infections, eczema, and protection against allergies, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, and sudden infant death system. Plus, their immune system and cognitive functioning gets an advantageous head start.

But if breast-feeding isn’t an option, you can do the next best thing. Preparing a formula using healthy raw milk is an option many mothers are turning to now.  You can find a selection of homemade infant formulas on the Internet.

Children come into this world completely trusting their parents to provide the best possible love and care.  When it comes to deciding what or how to feed your baby, make your decision carefully.
