Ancient Medicine for the Modern World
As the fledgling methodology of Western Medicine churns out more dis-eased Americans than ever, the need for an alternative, natural, and holistic health care system has erupted from the opening minds of a disillusioned public. There is an ever-growing awareness of the criminally driven, multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry which has been relentlessly shoving their toxic chemical cocktails down the throats of mistrusting citizens, through blatant misrepresentation of lab results, scientific fraud, direct-to-consumer television ad campaigns, and doctors willing to ignore their code of conduct and ethics and accept paychecks for their “unbiased” stamp of approval.
Millions of people across the country have grown sick and tired of the “health insurance” scam that tacks on a few hundred bucks to their monthly bills to provide care for illnesses they don’t even have yet. Only to realize later, that the illnesses they were so afraid of were invented by the same people who offered the long-term treatment plan. The slow but inevitable abandonment of health care companies that are only in the business of widening the profit margins of their shareholders has begun.
The newly empowered, eco-friendly public is once again following the path set forth by Mother Nature herself, and seeking out the rising number of Holistic Health Care practitioners with the knowledge, training, and intuition to shine a light on the the world’s most historic road to recovery.
The human body is a complex system of interactive components, any one of which, when out of balance with the others can lead to illness. The four main categories that can affect our health are the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our lives. The physical body includes muscle, bones, blood, internal organs, connective tissue, and skin.
The mind, or mental aspect, controls the ability to think and process information you receive from the environment and from within your own body. This is separate from the brain, which is a physical organ. Your awareness can be shifted to any part of your physical body by the powers of the mind. The strongest aspect of your mind is its ability to dream. This can happen when you are awake, or sleeping.
The creative powers of the mind must be allowed to flourish to optimize the potential we have as humans. The emotional aspect consists of the emotions that we feel each and every day, sadness, joy, fear, anger, resentment, shame, confusion, optimism, awe, and love. Love is by far the most important emotion in its ability to positively affect one’s overall health, and must be sent out in every direction for its rewards to be returned.
The spirit can be the hardest aspect to grasp for the sole reason that it is not meant to be grasped. The spirit is what lifts you in times of need. The spirit is not meant to be controlled, it is meant to be relinquished to, and to be followed. This is your instinct, your intuition, and your higher guidance. It is your ethereal connection to all of the world’s creative expressions of life. None of these four individual parts act independently of each other. They are in constant communication, and when one of them is out of balance, the rest can be affected.
Holistic Health Care recognizes the body’s systems as a whole, and strives to find the root cause of poor health and illness. Western Medicine focuses on the diseased organ, affected tissue, or chemical imbalance, and prescribes medication that will change the body’s chemistry to temporarily relieve the symptoms. This is similar to disconnecting the check engine light in your car because it was flashing. The root cause of the problem is still there, you have only masked the problem and are actually allowing it to grow.
Holistic Health Schools are popping up everywhere but not all schools are created equally. Health Care practitioners must be trained in specific modalities, such as massage, acupuncture, naturopathy, counseling, herbology, homeopathy, energy healing, nutrition or physical therapy. Only then can a practitioner, skilled in their art, expand their view to consider the whole body and all of its components and treat the health concern holistically. Beware of Holistic Health Practitioners who got their certificate from an online course of study. Clinical experience is the only way to learn and refine health care practices.
Keep in mind that it is not always necessary that you find someone who is licensed or certified. I have come across healers, shamans, and medicine men and women who have never stepped foot in a classroom, but have the experience and hands-on training to turn your life around and stimulate the natural healing processes your body already has. It takes dedication, hard work, an open heart, and a loving desire to affect change in someone’s health.
Talk to your health care provider, find out what they know, and where they received their training. The most important aspect to successful treatment is your trust and respect of your health care provider. If you have a well-founded belief in their abilities, all of your body’s components will begin to align themselves, and healing will begin.
