Tired And Unemployed: The Sleep-Job Loss Connection

Are you unemployed? In this day age, it wouldn’t be surprising. There are an increasing number of people who are joining the ranks of the unemployed and the trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Coincidentally, there are an increasing number of people who are seeking out sleeping aids such as pills and other medications to help them sleep. Or is it coincidence? Studies indicate a correlation between those who are unemployed and those who have trouble sleeping. Before you turn to prescription or over-the-counter sleep aids, learn about natural remedies that you can use to relax and fall asleep.

Unemployment leads to stress for most people. And you know what that means - less sleep! People who lose their jobs find that they suddenly are worried about finances as well as the prospect of getting a new job. And studies have proven a connection between conditions such as insomnia and stress.

Many people immediately turn to sleep aids, whether prescription or over-the counter to help them get their normal rest back. Others turn to alcohol as a way to calm down. Both sleeping aids and alcohol can be dangerous to the system as well as addictive. Before you jump on that bandwagon, consider the better, natural ways to get to sleep.

Kava Kava - A Natural Relaxant

Kava is a natural relaxant that will not only help relieve mild anxiety, but will also help you to fall asleep. Kava is also used for those suffering from depression. There is a lot that goes through the mind of someone who has just lost their job. Depression and anxiety are two conditions that go hand in hand and are often related to a trauma such as suddenly becoming unemployed. Instead of taking pills that are addictive and build up a tolerance in your system, you are better off to take a natural supplement such as Kava to help you sleep.

St. John’s Wort

Another natural supplement that aids in helping you relax is St. John’s Wort. This is a natural herbal that has been used to relieve anxiety and restlessness for years. Most people who are out of work toss and turn while worrying about finances and the pressure of getting a new job. This does nothing but make them even more fretful the next day. St. John’s Wort is a natural remedy that can relieve this feeling and allow you to get a full night of rest.

Chamomile Tea

For years, Chamomile tea was used as a way to help you relax and promote better sleep. This works well as a relaxant before bedtime and can help you fall asleep. Before you turn to drugs that can be extremely addictive, try some of this herbal tea.

While pills can be effective in promoting sleep, they can be dangerous when it comes to chronic insomnia as they are only meant to be used for a short time period and build up a tolerance in the system. Pills that are prescribed for anxiety also possess the same dangers.

There’s no doubt that there is a correlation between unemployment and sleeping problems. If you find that your sleeping pattern has been disrupted due to unemployment, or anything else, turn to natural remedies to help you get the rest you need.

You can sleep better every night using earplugs, a sleep mask, a sound conditioner (white noise machine) and blackout liners. I’ve been using these things for 20+ years and can’t do without them. Google “bucky sleep mask” or “marpac 980" (the most popular sleep products) or visit http://www.thecompletesleeper.com, which carries this kind of product.

Job loss...Been there. Done that. Yep, still 'there'. My heart goes out to those still getting 'pinked'.

For me, losing my job was one of those defining moments in life. I knew I had a choice: I could choose to lose my way (my mind) or rise to the challenge and follow what my Spirit tells me to do, always remembering that I am more than a statistic on the news.

I'll share with you what I was told the day I got "set free" (laid off) from my job: "This is a new chapter in your life. WRITE ONE HELL OF A CHAPTER!" And I did just that! Will you?

So if you just need a break from the doom and gloom, let me send you a FREE (no strings, really!) book download. Sign up at: www.noexpertsneeded dot com

Yes, times are tough, but it doesn't mean that we can't still 'give back' to one another. This is simply my way...

take care,
